I absolutely loved this movie (film for all you English-loving… people). I cannot express the excitement and joy I experienced throughout. I could emotionally connect with the characters especially Hiccup, the Viking teenager who lacks the physical ability and mentality to murder any of the dragons, and Toothless, the dragon who looks inextricably like Stitch.

Speaking of which, Dean DeBlois along with Chris Sanders directed this film. Both worked on Lilo and Stitch. Dean DeBlois was the director and writer of the original Lilo and Stitch while Chris Sanders played the voice of Stitch in the movies as well as in Kingdom Hearts (!).

The film never felt dull or slow and I never even thought of time. The only thing that took me out of the movie experience and brought me back to myself was how cold the cinema studios are, what the hell is up with that?

I don’t agree at all with IGN’s review of the movie. The Zero to Hero theme was played extremely well and didn’t seem overdone in recent times. I have to agree with The Totally Rad Show’s take on the movie. Jeff Cannata mentioned that this has been the best movie of 2010 so far and will probably remain one of the top. I think it is definitely “better” than other films such as The Hurt Locker and even in some aspects, Avatar. Yes, Avatar. Dan Trachenburg later goes on to say that the scenes of flight were amazing and blow Avatar’s apart. I agree. At least this is an original story and not a Pocahontas remake. Alex Albrecht later says “Everybody likes Dragons!” and its true. Dragons are awesome.

There’s just one little thing that peeved me off. Throughout the whole film there was a build up of how Dragons are very similar to humans, they only attack due to fear etc. The last few lines of the movie ruined it all. At first, Hiccup narrates how other towns have pets such as dogs or ponies. The last few lines indicate that while other towns have pets such as ponies, this Viking town has Dragons as pets. Why the hell would you indicate that dragons are your pets? Are there pets that could kill humans? Are there pets that have twice as big as humans? Are there pets that can destroy towns by burning them down? Also, we are led to indicate that the Dragons are not normal animals, they’re something more, yet, you call them pets!? They just defeated the whole purpose of the film, that two sworn enemies fight for a common purpose etc.

Do I raise a good point or am I ranting on again?

As most of you who follow me on Twitter would know by now, my old 2007 MBP had several issues. I emailed “Steve Jobs” and an executive of Apple Asia replied. In the end, they picked up my notebook via courier and sent me a new one. It arrived only a few days later.

I was extremely happy with Apple’s service and help in this. I could not believe how nice and amiable they were. Several emails and phone calls where exchanged between Apple and I. Now, I sit on this lovely, very sexy machine, blown away at what I thought heartless corporations just did.

The Apple Executive who I had contact with even went to the point of refunding the rest of my AppleCare Warranty left. I just want to congratulate Apple for making me such a happy customer. I also have some valuable information I would like to share with the rest of you that I learnt from the Apple Asia/Australia Executive I talked to. I first asked about new MacBook Pros coming out. Quote: “As you know, Apple does not reveal information about upcoming unreleased products… So I can’t reveal anything at the moment.” I also asked about the iPad Australian pricing and they did say it would be close to the American pricing but with Australian Dollar inflation etc.

I must confess. Most my time on the internet these days is mostly on Twitter and Google Reader. In fact, I’ve been addicted to Twitter so much that I pointed my domain, soragon.net directly to my Twitter account itself. I found no use of writing a blog. What was the point? I had no reason. Now, after several odd years of living the life on an internet junkie, I finally decided to go and produce content rather than consume it.

But hold on, that doesn’t mean I’m a total nutcase who hasn’t spoken at all, quite the contrary. I’m quite happy to say that I’m a very active Twitter user. I also love, and I mean love to go on forums. Once upon a time I was an active user on the Inheritance Forums, the official forums of shurtugal.com, the go-to fansite for the Inheritance Trilogy (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr…). In fact, I was a moderator for the Graphics section of the site for quite a while, but I resigned due to no activity on the site. I was also on the very well known graphics site Bratz-Design which was shut down a few years ago, to my dismay. My history with forums go as far back as 2003, when I was only 10 years old. I’ll stop here because it’ll bore you, but you get the gist.

I love podcasts. My life is based around podcasts. They keep me entertained while studying, commuting, working, exercising and showering (yes, showering). When I listen to these podcasts, I always have opinions of the matters at hand and of recent news, but I had no way to be heard. I mean, who’s going to read my blog? (By the way, I don’t think it should be called a blog, more like a public journal). So Twitter and Friendfeed were the only two ways I was going to be heard, and there, on those two social networking sites, I the people who would listen and are interested in what you have to say. Geeks basically owned Twitter, that was until Oprah joined (and since then, I’ve lost interest at a rate of y=e^(-x)+2). So I found the geek community but then it got very bogged down and when too many people started using the service it became a spam hole and all sorts of technical issues came into play. You also feel the need to follow a lot of people, and when you start to follow all these people, Twitter ceases to function as it should. But I’ll leave that for another blog post concerning Twitter and Friendfeed.

I feel like I’ve talked too much for my own good. I have a lot more to say but I have time constraints, since I’m in Year 12. I should get some sleep too. But in essence, the reason I have created a blog is because I need something other than Twitter that I can express my geek thoughts on technological matters at hand. 140 characters will not suffice, although it does have its advantages. It’s also a great way to improve my writing, since that’s becoming horrible and nearly illegible in the sense that I don’t make sense. See what I mean?
